Music Artist of the Month: December

January 1, 2015
Happy Holidays! This month we are featuring Ellen’s the Only Holiday Album You’ll Ever Need, Vol 1. Ellen DeGeneres is currently hosting the 12th season of her comedic daytime television show. Today she is known as having the most likeable TV personality; not only is she dancing through the aisles but also the hearts of many. She is not just a well known comedian, she is also a major role model for many as she serves a prominent role in the LGBT community. When her show first started, she received strong criticism as she was the first lead in sitcom history to openly acknowledge her homosexuality on air. When she married her girlfriend, Portia de Rossi, in 2008, she encouraged others throughout the country to stand up for gay peoples’ rights.
This season, DeGeneres stepped out of her comfort zone as interviewer and stepped into the business of music for the season. Her compilation album ranges from old classics like “Last Christmas” by Wham! and “Christmas Wrapping” by Waitresses, to recent hits like “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas” by Michael Bublé and “Underneath the Tree” by Kelly Clarkson. What’s unique about this soundtrack is the variety of artists and holiday songs that is unlike any other album. Ellen handpicked her favorite holiday songs for us to listen to and she did a fabulous job. There is something for everyone on this album and it is a great way to get others in the holiday spirit.
