Holiday Gifts for Friends
It can be hard to figure out what to get someone for the holidays, so I scoured the internet and chatted with some students to find the most popular gifts of the season.
- Fuzzy Blankets: Want your friends to snuggle up this winter? Then a fuzzy blanket is the way to go! This popular gift is soft to the touch and is sure to keep your friends warm throughout the winter. They come in a variety of colors, so you can pick the best one for your friend.
“They’re a good gift because they aren’t too expensive and many people like them,” explained Amanda Haick ‘22.
- Candies: ‘Tis the season to be jolly and the time for sweets! This season brings with it various amounts of candy, such as candy canes, peppermint bark, Reeses’ peanut butter cup trees and truffles of all sorts.
“Candy would be a good gift to get someone because I like candy myself. How it tastes, how it looks,” says Justin Farinango ‘22. “Even if I only get candy during the holiday season, I won’t be upset because people are still showing they care about me.”
- Books: If your friends are bookworms, then a book is the absolute perfect idea. Check out the New York Times bestseller list to check out the popular ones this season.
“They can be good entertainment, yet very informative,” says Iqra Shafi ‘20. “I think every book shares a theme that can be compared to society’s different perspectives and lessons,” Shafi added.
4: Gift Cards: One cannot go wrong with gift cards! If you’re one of those people who has trouble deciding what would be the perfect gift for your friends, a gift card will also put a smile on the recipients face.
“If someone struggles with gift giving, a gift card offers them the opportunity to give their friend the option of choice in their present,” explained Jayde Eggert ‘20. In this way, your friend gets to decide what they want, and you show that you care about them.
No matter what you decide, remember, is the thought that counts, not the money you spend.
