Bethel High School is hosting a Bilingual Coffee Night with the Principal for those parents who speak Spanish or Portuguese on Thursday Jan. 22. Both a Portuguese and Spanish translator will be present. For anyone interested in attending, the event will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. in Bethel High School’s College and Career Center.
The night will include information involving the school’s new website, course selection, Powerschool, My College, Quick Start, and Infosnap.
“Bilingual Coffee Night is an ongoing series of events to reach out to families to further develop their partnership with the school and to educate parents or guardians about the variety of resources and opportunities the school and district provides” says Ms. Fernand, English Department Chair, who is helping organize the night. BHS holds this night in order to get more parents involved with the school community.
Two of these events were held last year and two more are planned for this year school year. Another night that is similar to this is Parent University, an event that offers workshops for parents to participate in.
Ms. Fernand said that the last Coffee Night had sixteen parents participate, however, “this number is expected to increase as more people understand what the Bilingual Coffee Night is.”
