Football Wraps Up
December 9, 2011
As another football season comes to an end, the captains, coaches, and team members reflect on their strengths and weaknesses of this season and how to improve for next season.
“The varsity season went pretty well,” reflected freshman team member TJ Falotico. “Next season they will have to fill the gaps from all the key players that they will be losing at the end of this year,” Falotico anticipated.
Captains Brandon Schmidt ’12 and Thiago Lanes ’12 look fondly upon their final season with six wins and just three loses. Lanes and Schmidt both agreed that next year the team can only work harder.
“You can never work hard enough,” said Schmidt. “ I look back on my years playing football here and regret that I hadn’t always pushed myself when I could have.”
Coach Gill added, “There is the same need to be worked on every year; to get stronger faster and find good leaders.”
Coach Gill is already strategizing his approach to filling the gaps of the seniors who will be graduating this spring. “We lose a lot of players every year. We just have to find the next kid who can step in and get the job done,” said Gill.
Schmidt and Falotico both look highly upon their coaches and their coaching this past season. “Coaches did a good job picking and placing the players,” said Falotico.
“Our coaches work well together. This was their third year as a coaching staff together and in time they will only get better,” said Schmidt.
