From Bethel High to West Point University

Brandon Schmidt ’12, a senior at Bethel High School, signed a contract with the United States Military Academy, also known as West Point University on Wednesday February 1.
“It’s an amazing honor and opportunity to attend an academy of such prestige,” said Schmidt.
Schmidt feels that he made the right decision about West Point University will leave for his studies in June 2012. Schmidt was given a full ride to play football and join the army, and will also receive a cadet salary.
After stepping on campus, Schmidt knew the West Point University campus was where he belonged.
West Point University is located in West Point, New York and has approximately 4,000 cadets. Forbes.com has announced West Point University as the Best Public College or University in America, along with the Princeton Review designating the Academy as one of the 100 Best Value Colleges for 2009.
Schmidt’s family and friends are very proud of him. Fellow football player and good friend, Brian Debacher (’12), said, “Brandon’s a great kid. He’s well deserving of this. He was a strong leader on the team this year and I expect him to have great success at West Point.”
Signing to the United States Military Academy is an incredible honor. Schmidt stands out against the rest of the students in the class of 2012 because of this unique opportunity. “It’s a lot of sacrifice but it’s definitely worth it,” said Schmidt.
