Barlow Overtakes Wildcats in Varsity Football’s First Game

The Varsity Football team (0-1) lost its first game of the season on the road against Joel Barlow (24-14) on Friday after being pushed forward one day due to severe weather on Thursday.

Barlow started out strong with two touchdowns in the first quarter. Bethel fought back, and quarterback Joe Piatnik ’14 ran for touchdowns in the second and third quarters, tying the score up at 14-14.

Barlow struck back late in the third with a field goal from 27 yard out, putting the Wildcats in a 17-14 hole. Barlow sealed the win in the fourth quarter when opposing quarterback Jack Shaban ran for his second touchdown of the game,  putting the score 24-14.

Kicker Hayden Duffy ’15 scored both of the Wildcat’s extra points.

The football team’s next game is away against Newtown.
