With its dazzling lights, live music and spectacular vocal arrangements, Cabaret is the first fall performance for the choir department. Each year the show has a specific theme, from “greatest hits” to last year’s Broadway. On Oct. 19 and 20 in the BHS cafeteria, the choir students were able to share their spin on Disney tunes.

“It was a great atmosphere — what I love about being in the high school is that everyone who wants to do chorus does chorus,” said Emma Welsh ’21.

Songs included a medley composed of spectacular classics, some newer Disney features and more. Students had the opportunity to display their full vocal rage and talents through solos and group arrangements. Songs often touch upon many different styles and interpretations.

“The songs are fun to sing — I grew up watching and listening to Disney movies and songs,” added Welsh.

This year at Cabaret, order forms were filled out for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pre-order a CD of all the solos and possibly some choir tunes that were performed this year. Mr. Baumer and his digital music students worked hard to make the distribution of the CDs possible.

“Congrats to the BHS Concert choir and Chambers singers as well as anyone who had solos in Disney Dazzle!” said Mrs. Neville, Bethel High’s choir director. “I would also love to thank anyone that helped with donations to raise money for the Williamsburg trip.”

To hear more fabulous music, check out the upcoming choir, orchestra and band winter and spring concerts. There, the music department looks forward to trying more challenging and classical pieces.
