“Little Mermaid” Coming Soon

By: Yashvi Bhavsar ’25

“The Little Mermaid” is making its way to the stage as Bethel High School’s Spring 2023 musical!

Compared to previous plays and musicals, Mrs. Heyel, the producer of the show, calls it a shiny show, as it is very big, bright and colorful.

This is Heyel’s second time producing the school musical, along with two other plays performed in the fall.

The cast is considerably larger than most, requiring many actors on stage to play Ariel’s sisters and other ensemble members, bringing many tricks and illusions.

Unlike previous school productions, the lead character, Ariel, played by Alex Lavelle ‘23, loses her voice and must communicate through her expressions and body language, making for a very visually captivating performance.

“I’m excited to watch my cast members perform and watch everyone in their element,” said Fabiana Lima ‘25, cast as Sebastian the Crab.

Performances of the numbers “Part of Your World,” “Les Poissons,” and “Kiss the Girl” are ones to look forward to.

“The show is such a labor of love with so many different moving parts,” said Heyel, who is excited for opening night on March 31 at 7 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased for the April 1 and April 2 showings at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., all in the Bethel High School auditorium.
